Energy, IT and telecommunications companies
The program seeks, more and more, the approval of research and development projects financed, especially, by the sectorial energy, informatics and telecommunications funds. This has made it possible to establish various agreements with national (Eletronorte, Celpa, Vale) and international companies (Ericsson) for the development of technical cooperation work, which has been very effective as a stimulator of the scientific and technological production of the course, dissertations and related publications. An outstanding project in progress is the "Development of Algorithms for use of DSL in Backhaul", coordinated by professor Aldebaro Klautau Jr and is funded by Ericsson Research Labs, which provides for the continued participation of UFPA in the G.fast standardization process organized by the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU). It is noteworthy that UFPA became the first university in South America to participate as an academic member of the ITU-T, and the benefits of interacting UFPA researchers and students with world experts is another important justification. In addition to the strong academic interest, the project results represent concrete contributions to society because they are focused on new algorithms for broadband Internet, with a rate of 1 Gigabit per second, which means an increase in more than thirty times the highest rate currently practiced in the Brazil.
