Study and Teaching Laboratories
The PPGCC shares three laboratories with the College of Computing and its two undergraduate courses: Bachelor's in Computer Science (BCC) and Bachelor's in Information Systems (BSI). These laboratories are located in the building of the Institute of Exact and Natural Sciences (ICEN). The laboratories host classes and are primarily allocated for activities with the presence of professors (classes and demonstrations), but other activities may also occur according to demand (defense of theses, workshops, courses, etc.). When the laboratories are not in use, students can request the key at the College of Computing office to use them.
It should be noted that the BCC and BSI courses are held, respectively, in the afternoon and evening. Therefore, the three laboratories are exclusively used by PPGCC in the morning, as there are no undergraduate classes being taught.
The configuration of the four laboratories is approximately:
· Good lighting;
· 30 study stations distributed on benches;
· Physical points for Internet access;
· Whiteboard;
· Multimedia projector;
· Air-conditioned environment;
· Wireless network.
The configuration of the study stations is approximately:
· Processors: Intel i5;
· RAM Memory: 8 Gbytes;
· Dedicated video card: 1Gbytes;
· HD: 500 Gbytes;
· Monitor: 15;
· Platform: Linux.
All study stations feature the necessary software tools to support the courses of undergraduate and graduate programs. There are two support rooms attached to two of the mentioned laboratories, on different floors, which connect the building’s vertical backbone of ICEN and provide the horizontal backbone of the building. It is in these spaces that the racks, computer maintenance area, and specific application servers requested by professors are located. Two wireless networks are available throughout the Belém campus of UFPA, providing easy internet access for teachers, students, and visitors.
There is a study room for graduate students, which accommodates 6 people simultaneously. To access the space, contact the PPGCC office or the coordination.
